Rocking & Stomping/Bill Black's Combo

Trumpetplayer Willie Mitchell was an important man at the Hi-studio since 1961. He worked on arrangements for Bill Black's Combo, composed material for Bill Black and played trumpet occasionally on his albums. Later on he recorded and produced instrumental rockgroups like the Black combo and many others. He recorded and produced several instrumental albums and singles with his own band. In the seventies he had recording sessions with soulstars like Al Green, Ann Peebles, Otis Clay, Syl Johnson and Denise LaSalle.
He died of cardiac arrest January 5 at a Memphis hospital.
